KARNAL : 5 members of a gang concerned in cattle thefts had been arrested by the anti-cattle theft employees of Karnal police on Friday.
Police recovered 27 cattle, together with 20 buffaloes, three automobiles, and Rs 50,000 from their possession.
Police claimed that the accused confessed to committing 70 thefts of cattle. The accused have been recognized as Pradeep, Ahsan, Vasid and Taslim, all from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Imran of Roorkee in Uttarakhand.
Karnal superindent of police (SP) Ganga Ram Punia stated just lately he had constituted an anti cattle theft crew to stop the cattle theft incidents within the district. The crew led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Parveen Kumar arrested the accused from Indri and Anjanthali villages on completely different days.
In the course of the remand, police recovered 20 buffaloes, seven cows, three automobiles, and Rs 50,000 from their possession. He stated the accused revealed that the gang comprised 30 to 32 individuals they usually used to commit the theft between midnight and 3am.
Earlier than committing the crime, the accused used to gather details about the focused village and used to commit two to a few incidents in an evening.
Police stated the gang was energetic in Assandh, Nigdhu, Taraori, Butana and Munak areas. Lately, a number of cattle theft instances had been reported from these areas.
The SP stated throughout investigation it has been revealed that the accused are going through a number of instances of cattle theft in varied districts and states. He stated efforts are being made to arrest the remainder of the members of the gang and extra restoration can be made. Two accused have been despatched to judicial custody.
