HYDERABAD: The primary ‘Make in India’ aerospace programme within the non-public sector protecting the entire lifecycle of a navy transport plane has a key Hyderabad connection.
What many maybe don’t know is that Telugu bidda Venkat Katkuri, who's steering Airbus’ defence and house vertical for India & South Asia as head, was instrumental in Airbus clinching the deal to produce 56 C295 plane to India.
The deal, which was finalised in September 2021, was inked by India to switch the Indian Air Drive’s (IAF) legacy AVRO fleet.
The Airbus C295 programme will cowl the total improvement of an entire industrial ecosystem -- from manufacturing to meeting, testing and qualification, to supply and upkeep of the entire lifecycle of the plane.
