BHUBANESWAR: The controversy over the development work across the perimeter of the twelfth century Jagannath temple in Puri thickened with Bharatiya Janata Get together (BJP) member of Parliament (MP) from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi enterprise a padyatra to the temple regardless of refusal of permission by the state authorities.

Sarangi, who has been protesting the digging of the world across the temple with out permission by Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI), was on her method to the temple city with members of Srimandir Bachao Andolan Committee when she was stopped by police at Chandanpur, round 6 km away. However as she insisted on padyatra to the temple, the administration took her and her followers in authorities automobiles to the Grand Street from the place they walked to the temple.

On reaching the temple, she provided prayers to the deities and prostrated in entrance of the temple. “No permission is required for darshan of Lord Jagannath. If the Odisha authorities is on the proper path, why is it so afraid,” requested Sarangi.

Refuting Sarangi’s allegations, Puri MP Pinaki Misra mentioned all works are being performed legally as per norms.
