Silchar: Plenty of Dimasa organisations have strongly opposed the demand by non-Dimasa teams for bifurcation of Dima Hasao into two separate districts.
Indigenous Peoples’ Discussion board (IPF), a conglomeration of scholars belonging to Biete, Hmar, Kuki, Karbi, Vaiphei, Zeme Naga, Khelma and another non-Dimasa ethnic teams, has been spearheading a sequence of agitations demanding bifurcation of the hill district for the reason that state authorities modified the identify of erstwhile North Cachar Hills to Dima Hasao vide a notification on April 1, 2010. Nonetheless, now Dimasa organisations, together with Jadikhe Naisho Hoshom (JNH), Dima Jalai Hosom, Dimasa College students’ Union and All Dimasa College students’ Union, have opposed the IPF’s demand.
The response by the Dimasa teams comes following a gathering between the IPF and the house and political division in Guwahati on Thursday. The IPF was invited together with its scholar and ladies’s wings (North Cachar Hills Indigenous College students’ Discussion board and North Cachar Hills Indigenous Girls’s Discussion board) through a letter on April 19 by the state authorities for a gathering in Guwahati for a dialogue in reference to its demand.
Functionaries of Dimasa outfits instructed the media in Haflong that they vehemently oppose the bifurcation demand because it was based mostly purely on communal strains.
