Kalaburagi: The thirty ninth and fortieth convocation of Gulbarga College was held at Ambedkar Corridor on the college campus on Wednesday. Six dignitaries have been conferred with doctorates by governor Thawar Chand Gehlot on the event.
For the thirty ninth convocation, Siddaram Seer (Beldal Seer) and Basavaraj G Patil Ashtoor, each from Bidar and Venugopal D Heroor of Kalaburagi have been conferred been honorary doctorates.
For the fortieth convocation, Guramma Siddareddy of Bidar district (social work), Abdulla Kunhi (training sector) and Goutham Radhakrishna of Bengaluru (science) have been conferred honorary doctorates.
For the primary time that the college held convocation for 2 tutorial years and the variety of gold medals given has doubled.
Whereas 28,186 college students have been introduced with commencement certificates for the thirty ninth convocation, 28,250 college students received certificates for the fortieth convocation. As many as 67 woman college students and 15 boys received 182 gold medals.
GU introduced 112 PhD levels, which included 39 girls and 73 males for the thirty ninth convocation. For the subsequent tutorial years, there have been 47 PhD graduates which included 27 girls and 20 males.
GU introduced 165 gold medals to 74 college students by which 53 have been ladies and 21 have been boys. As many as six gold medal winners got money prizes to 11 woman college students and 5 boys.
For the primary time, desi khadi robes have been used within the convocation as a substitute of the traditional black robes. The desi robe included a shawl and a hat printed with the college emblem. The Gold medallists, rank holders, tutorial council members and syndicate members wore completely different colored khadi robes on the occasion.
