Prayagraj: Sleuths of particular process power (STF) on Tuesday claimed to have busted an inter-state racket concerned in liquor smuggling and arrested its two key members close to Naveen Mandi over bridge on Lucknow-Gorakhpur freeway in Ayodhya district whereas they had been taking the unlawful liquor consignment to Bihar.
The police have seized 290 cartons of unlawful liquor value Rs 40 lakh, one truck with pretend registration plate, two cellular units, one PAN card, one DL and Rs 2110 money from their possession.
The arrested individuals recognized as Mahendra Pal and Pawan Kumar, had been residents of Ropar in Punjab state.
Deputy SP (STF) Navendu Kumar informed reporters that after receiving inputs that racketeers had been concerned in smuggling of unlawful liquor from Delhi Haryana to Bihar cities through UP, a crew of STF intercepted a truck carrying unlawful consignment of liquor.
He added that the miscreants had hidden the unlawful liquor consignment among the many cartons of ready-made hosiery, cotton, cosmetics, autocar equipment, mattress, rest room hardware’s and different gadgets.
STF claimed that a group of liquor mafia from Punjab’s Girakhpur Mohali was concerned in smuggling of liquor to Patna in Bihar to earn hefty income.
