HYDERABAD: Requests from Telangana and non-compliance of provisions in Krishna River Administration Board (KRMB) and Godavari River Administration Board (GRMB) pressured the Union ministry of jal shakti to defer implementation of the gazette notification for six extra months. Two separate gazette notifications for KRMB and GRMB had been issued by the Centre on April 1.
Which means that each Telangana and AP can take approvals for his or her pending tasks for subsequent six months and full them. Additionally, each the states can deposit Rs 200 crore every to KRMB and GRMB for his or her functioning. The most recent deadline is July 2022.

The jal shakti ministry had issued gazette notifications individually for Krishna and Godavari river boards taking up all irrigation tasks, together with barrages, canals and reservoirs, on July 15, 2021 and introduced it will come into impact from October 15, 2021.
In response to the gazette notifications, Telangana and AP need to deposit Rs 200 crore seed cash every inside 60 days of the notification to discharge their capabilities successfully. However, not one of the governments had paid the seed cash. For all ongoing, unapproved works — full or partial, governments need to acquire approvals from the Centre and businesses involved by submitting detailed undertaking studies inside six months or else they ceased to function. “Telangana submitted DPRs of six tasks on Godavari tasks and sought approvals. The federal government has been claiming that since remaining allocation of Krishna waters has not been achieved, it hasen’t sought any approval for the tasks taken up on Krishna river from the KRMB and the jal shakti ministry,” officers of Telangana irrigation division mentioned.
Even on some tasks on Godavari and Krishna river basins, Telangana has been arguing and even written letters saying that varied irrigation tasks which had been included within the gazette notification had been taken up previous to the bifurcation of the state and now listed as new tasks, particularly 11 tasks on Godavari basin.
The federal government claimed that of 967 tmcft allocation in Godavari, tasks for 758 tmcft had been cleared by the Central Water Fee and water availability has been cleared by hydrological directorate for one more 148 tmcft.
