AHMEDABAD: Unable to bear the strain of research, a 3rd 12 months MBBS scholar jumped to her dying from the terrace of her hostel on the campus of GMERS medical school in Gandhinagar on Saturday morning. Aastha Panchasara, 20, left a suicide notice behind, stating that she was taking the step because the second 12 months examination paper she had taken on Friday didn't go as per her expectations.
The notice was addressed to her dad and mom, who stay in Dubai. Her native guardian was her grandfather, Vasudev Panchasara, a retired civil engineer who lives in Gandhinagar.
Sector 7 inspector Dharmendra Chaudhari mentioned, “We discovered a notice in English from her hostel room no. 907. It started with the phrase ‘sorry’. She wrote that she was killing herself as she couldn't take the strain of research.”
School dean Shobhna Gupta mentioned, “Aastha’s dad and mom stay overseas. She handed Class 12 from a Gandhinagar college and received admission right here within the NRI quota. She had failed two topics in her second 12 months and was taking her ATKT exams.”
Investigating officer D N Parmar mentioned, “After showing for her examination on Friday, she known as her grandfather and advised him that she had not carried out nicely. Her grandfather requested her uncle to carry a tiffin for her and have a chat along with her. Nevertheless, when her uncle known as her, she advised him that she would handle and satisfied him to not come over. At 8am on Saturday, she dedicated suicide.”
That is the fifth suicide by a medical scholar up to now 4 months. Two such suicides have been reported from Palanpur, one from Vadnagar, and one from BJ Medical School in Ahmedabad. Just lately, a resident physician dedicated suicide at Shardaben Hospital.
