Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized ₹133 crore in mounted deposits of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief and mines proprietor Jitu Patnaik following raids over cash laundering fees.

An official mentioned following searches at 4 locations together with Patnaik’s residence in Joda, workplace at Baneikala Chhak in Keonjhar, and home at Surya Nagar in Bhubaneswar, mounted deposits in separate banks had been hooked up and ₹69 lakh money had been confiscated. “We now have credible proof that Patnaik indulged in cash laundering.”

The official mentioned the case in opposition to Patnaik was filed on the idea of the Odisha vigilance division’s probe into cash laundering in opposition to Patnaik in 2009 over unlawful mining price ₹2,000 crore.

Patnaik was elected as an impartial legislator in 2009 when he was the richest candidate within the meeting elections. He joined BJD in 2014.

Patnaik denied fees of possessing black cash. “The vigilance registered a case in opposition to BD Patnaik. I'm his authorized inheritor...so my property was additionally raided. Throughout the raid, ₹69 lakh money was recovered. It's my incomes from a petroleum pump and home rents.”
